Pilgrimage of a Legion

Joining the Imperium

Legion and Shira were in a shuttle flying over the cities of Elysium. The shuttle wasn't going to any of the cities or space ports it was heading to the mountains. "Aren't we going to one of the cities?" Legion asked the pilot.
"You two are on your pilgrimage correct," the pilot said.
"Yes," Legion said.
"Then just sit back and relax," he said, "I have orders to take all pilgrimaging Quarians to a secret base by orders of the Imperium."
"I don't like this," Shira said.
"I don't either," Legion said, "but I know the leader of Imperium and this is something that she would do, but just in case be ready to start something."
The shuttle flew started to fly towards on of the mountain ranges of the planet but wasn't slowing down at all, "Aren't you going to slow down?" Legion asked panicked.
"Nope," the drive said, "relax if you die then you don't have to pay for the ride."
The shuttle flew fast toward one of the mountains and both Legion and Shira braced for impact but there was no impact and when they looked out of the shuttles windows they could see they were inside the mountain.
Within the mountain was a large facility there was a small docking bay that the shuttle was going to and someone was waiting for them. Legion couldn't make out who it was beyond whoever it was she was female and had red hair.
As they exited the shuttle Legion immediately recognized the woman. She was wearing white and grey armour with blue trim with a matching short tail lab coat and her hair hung down, "Arcee," he said as he approached her.
"Legion," she said as she threw her arms wide and hugged him, "good to see you. Hope you had a good shuttle ride."
"The last bit was a bit scary," Legion said.
"That's the point," Arcee said, "anyways, shouldn't you introduce me to your friend there."
"I'm Shira," Shira said.
"Yes, I hear you were from the Black Suns," Arcee said, "I'm Arcee, and if you want I'll be your employer for the next little while. Come I'll answer all of your questions as we go to my office."
"I thought all your projects were far from complete," Legion said.
"They were, but that was over a year ago," Arcee explained, "now several of the projects are complete and this project needs more staff since a lot of the workers contracts expired and they left."
"What is it that you are working on here?" Legion asked.
"This is one of my favourite bases," Arcee explained, "this is where we created several high security projects, the last one being the Salamandastron System."
"What we are currently working on here though is something that a lot of scientists thought was just science fiction," Arcee continued, "tell me are either of you two aware of the concept of the concept of de-molecularizing objects and re-molecularizing them in another location?"
"Are you referring to transporting?" Legion said.
"That is step one," Arcee said, "What we are really trying to do is creating the ability to teleport."
"I'm confused," Shira said, "isn't transporting and teleporting the same thing?"
"Most people would agree with you," Arcee said, "but I say there is a difference. The difference being is teleporting is instantaneous and doesn't require you to be de-molecurized whereas transporting there is a delay and is far more dangerous since it requires you to be de-molecurized and then re-molecurized in another location."
"Why did a lot of your workers leave?" Legion asked, "I would have thought that something like this they would want to be on till the very end."
"They left because we got to the point of transporting but I wanted to continue the work to teleporting but they thought it was the same thing so they left," Arcee explained, "technically speaking the transporting phase is complete and I'm arranging a meeting with the Council to show them the transporting technology. But in the meantime I figured why not and continue until we get to the point of teleporting."
They got to Arcee's office, in the office was a desk with a large chair behind it and two smaller chairs in front of it. Pictures of what looked like humanized robots that had vehicle parts lined the walls and leaning up against one of the corners of the room was a katana style sword with no hand guard and a large two handed scythe.
Arceee went behind the desk and sat down and gestured that they do the same with the chairs in front of the desk. Her chair was much more luxurious than theirs but theirs were still quite nice, leather cushioning and the ability to recline.
"Arcee finally you are back," a male voice said from the computer console on the desk, "We want to know how things are going there."
"They are going fine random male shareholder that I don't give a care of what your name is," Arcee said nonchalantly as she grabbed a pen and started twirling around her fingers.
"It's Harry," he said, "and I want to know more details."
"I think I'm losing you," Arcee said as she fiddled with her console with her free hand, "must be sun spots or something."
"Arcee don't you dare hang up on us again."
"Hang up on you again," Arcee said cheekily, "Okay, good bye."
"I love doing that," Arcee said as she put the pen down, "now where were we? Oh yes, seeing if you two want to work for me on this project?"
"I would love to," Legion said.
"Meh, sure why not." Shira said.
"Excellent," Arcee said, "you two can start tomorrow there is a male and female dormitory so feel free to use them. Oh and feel free to root around in the system, who knows you two might just find something that will complete your pilgrimages."
"Thanks Arcee," Legion said.
"Oh and don't worry you don't need to be an expert hacker to gain access to the files. I only ask if you find something you want come and ask me if you can take it."
"Thanks," Legion said.
"Thank you," Shira said confused by Arcee's statement as if she knew she didn't have very good hacking skills.
"No problem," Arcee said, "take your time today, look around explore just keep out of trouble."
"Arcee," the voice of Harry said as Legion and Shira got up to leave, "don't you dare hang up on us again."
"I'm sorry," Arcee said muffling her voice, "the number you are trying to reach is no longer available or is busy. If you would like to leave a message please do so at the tone." She pressed a button and the call ended, "Oh they never do learn do they. What shall I do next time?"
"Arcee aren't you worried that you'll lose the shareholders?" Legion asked
"My company is at the forefront of the most technologically advanced stuff out there and the shares sell for thousands. I normally get a bunch of new shareholders every so often," she explained, "most of the shareholders understand that and find humour when others get so angry. Besides I take their calls every so often and treat them seriously I just like annoying them most of the time though."
"The council knows this and they support me," she continued, "besides without me most of the tech that we use now wouldn't exist, particularly the hyper system; which a lot of people use now for faster than light travel."

The Dark Knight was standing in a dimly lit room, suddenly the door opened and a couple of the Black Suns soldiers walked in, they escorting an unharmed woman in a black skin tight outfit with a black, red lined cape.
"She says she is here to see you," one of them said.
He looked at the woman, "leave her here and leave us," he said.
After they left he asked, "What are you doing here, Adriana? If you have come to bring me back to Xecil…"
"I don't work for Xecil anymore," she said, "Terra is dead, he turned her into one of his experiments but she sacrificed herself to save me...I work for Arcee now."
"What do you want then?" he asked.
"I met Shira the other day," she said, "she's still with Legion and they are both doing fine. I told her about the day you found her."
"Good," he said.
"Why did you send her on the pilgrimage with Legion?"
"So that she could protect him," Black Knight said.
"You know how strong she is," Adriana said, "You knew who you were sending her with. He can look after himself without her."
"Your point," he asked.
"Your attacks on ships increased over that span of times then suddenly almost all of them stopped," Adriana said, "why?"
"Were you hoping to attack other pilgrimaging Quarians?" she continued, "Were you planning to send her on her pilgrimage with other Quarians and it just happened Legion was the first Quarian you ran across?"
Black Knight just remained silent, "How many people died to send her away, and for what purpose?"
"She needs to learn what it is to be Quarian," Black Knight said, "if I didn't exist she would have left on her pilgrimage along with all the other Quarians and have a mother, father and know of her culture."
"So you don't want her to return," Adriana said, "you want her to go to her people."
"It is where she needs to be," he said, "she will become stronger with them than she ever would with me."
It was hard to tell if he was sad or not, his voice made it impossible to tell what he was feeling, "What if she wants to return to you and not her people? Will you deny her that?"
"If she wishes to return then she may," Black Knight said, "I'll be pleased either way."
"She took your name," Adriana said, "She calls herself Shira'Knight now."
"Why are you telling me this?" he asked his voice starting to rise.
"Because she sees you as her father, and you see her as your daughter," Adriana said.
"Shirley this isn't the only reason why you came," he asked.
"No, this is only part of why I am here," she said, "Arcee wishes to speak with you face to face. She want to know more about Xecil and what we are."
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"Arcee, she wants to know what Xecil was doing, she wants to know what we are," she explained, "she sees us as humans but she wants to know what Xecil was doing and why."
"What does it matter?" he said.
"She believes Xecil has more creations like us," she explained, "She wants to find them and free them from his control. She wants to save us from him."
"She wants my blood then," he said, "How do I know I can trust her?"
"All the data she has on me and Blondie is sealed safely away," she said, "sealed in a location that she says is impossible to get to."
"How is that possible?"
"I don't know," Adriana said, "only she knows how to find the information."
"If we meet, my men will become suspicious," he said.
"Then use this to get what I need," Adriana said holding up a vile with a needle at one end.
"This meeting is going to end badly you know," he said as he took the needle and used it to extract some of his black blood.
"I know," she said sadly as she took the vile back and put it safely away, "let's make it look good then."
"I won't hold back," he said.
"I know and I'm ready," Adriana said as she crouched down into a fighting position.
