Childhood Saga: Part II
Trouble with the Law

On a computer screen in the engineering bay of the Normandy SR2 Tali is contacting someone on the Migrant Fleet. "Hello," came a female voice.
"Arcee," Tali said, "it's me Tali, I was wondering if you had a few minutes to continue your story about Shepard when he was young?"
"Sure," Arcee said, "let's see where did I leave off again?"
"I think had just joined Shepard's team of orphan's." Tali said in an apologetic voice.
"That's right," Arcee said, "Well not a lot had happened for six years after I joined, we just survived as best as we could and Sid's gang grew but left us alone for the most part."
"To the people of Antiva, a city built by Canadians that wished not to join the United States in the year 2105AD;" Arcee explained" Shepard's friends had become a small team unnoticed by the residents or the gang's of Antiva. The same could not be said for Sid's gang though…"

...In the meantime, in the small area that was the slums, Sid had remade his gang and had grown it making the slums merge into the financial district. Sid's gang left Shepard and his family of orphans alone for the most part, but each day. But Sid's gang was attracting attention from the real gangs of Antiva.
In a run down five story building bordering the financial and slum district of Antiva, inside a room with broken glass near the fire escaped there were five people about the age of sixteen sleeping underneath a large blanket just big enough to cover the five of them. Suddenly there was loud bang and the teens awoke. There was gunfire in the streets below them. They looked out the windows and saw people around the age if eighteen and above were chasing, killing, and capturing people that were from that all had a small red skull on their shirts, it was Sid's gang, The Red Skulls.
"What's going on down there?" asked the Japanese girl with dark blonde hair.
"I don't know, Relena," a black haired male answered, "but it looks like the gang's of Antiva are capturing the kids of Sid's gang."
"Why do you think they're doing that, Shepard?" asked the other girl with red hair.
"Maybe, the Aegis gang got angry at Sid's gang," Shepard said, "or maybe, Sid and his gang attracted too much attention from the Aegis gang."
"Do you think the Ra and Thunder gangs are also going to do this?" Arcee asked.
"I don't know," Shepard said.
"I'm scared," Relena said.
"Don't worry Relena," said a male with dark brown hair as he put his arm around her, "as long as we stick together we'll be fine."
"Really, Jack," Relena said still looking scared.
"As long as we remain together and look out for each other more than we ever have, we'll be fine," Shepard said, and put his hand on Relena's shoulder.
"Well, as long as I've got my Bokoto," Arcee said, "we'll be fine."
"We might need more than you're Boken," Shepard said. "You may have exceptional skills with a sword, but, they've got guns and are much bigger than we are."
"Shepard, we need to make sure Sid is fine," Arcee said, "He may not be our friend, but we need to make sure nothing bad happens to him."
"I agree with you," Shepard said, "who wants to volunteer for a recon mission."
"I'm with you Sheaprd," Arcee said, with her boken over her shoulder.
"I want to see more of what is happening out there," Jack said.
"Jack, no don't," Relena said.
"I'll be fine, Relena," Jack said, "So will you, as long as you remain here."
Jack, Arcee and Shepard left when it was clear and silently made their way to Sid's hideout which was quite far away, and in the area that had once belonged to Arcee's gang. The journey took a long time and a few times they had to hide for several minutes to avoid detection by the Aegis gang. They eventually got to Sid's hideout and hid behind some rubble and what they saw horrified them.
Sid was one the ground and looked pretty badly beaten up, in the middle of the area, and he was surrounded by people from the Aegis gang, including the leader a tall, heavily muscular Caucasian man, with ripped jeans and a sleeveless jean jacket, with a black muscle shirt on underneath.
"So you thought you could take cash from us you little piece of shit," the leader said, and kicked Sid in the ribs, "well you thought wrong, we killed those kids that tried to steal from us, and it was pretty easy to figure out which gang they belonged to being kids an there only being one gang that has little kids."
"I thought they would have been better than that," Sid said.
"You dare mock me, Juggernaut," the Aegis gang leader Juggernaut said, "well, looks like that was your second mistake. Tell what I'm going to do, I'm going to take all the people from your gang, make then become part of my own, and to top all off, I'm going to show them your lifeless corpse to make an example of anyone who would think of disobeying me."
"That's horrible," Arcee said and began to stand up, just to be stopped and forced back down by Shepard. "Shepard, what do you think you're doing? We have to help Sid."
"I know," Shepard said and took out the knife that he had thrown into Slash, "You remember how good of a shot I was back then don't you?"
"I got you Shepard," Arcee said, "but you only have one shot are you sure you want to use it him?"
"I'll distract them, while you get Sid out of there and somewhere safe." Shepard said.
"That's suicide," Jack said, "Not only an hour ago, you said we must stick together, what good it if you run off on your own?"
"Okay, Shepard," Arcee said, "just don't die on us."
"Arcee, what are you saying?" Jack asked, "You know just as well as I do that what Shepard just offered to do is suicide."
"He'll make it out alive," Arcee said, "I know he will."
"Fine, but if he dies," Jack said, "don't come crying to me."
"Good then it's agreed," Shepard said, then stood up and hoped over the rubble and threw the knife; it flew through the air, twirling. It hit the gun that the leader of Aegis had in his hand aiming at Sid. The knife pierced the gun and it flew a few feet away with a knife through it.
Juggernaut looked in the direction that the knife had flown in and saw Shepard standing there, "Why you little piece of shit," he said, "I'll ensure that you die here and now, get him."
Shepard ran off and Juggernaut and a bunch of his minions gave chase after him. Shepard ran staying just ahead of Juggernaut, running through the streets that he hadn't been to for years, but still remembered all of the pathways and hideouts he used. All he had to do was get out of sight of Juggernaut. He then remembered that there was a small hideout that he used when he first left he orphanage and started to wonder the slums.

A few hours later at Shepard's hideout in the once financial district Sid laid on the floor, bruised and beaten, Relena and Arcee were using what they had at hand and the knowledge that they knew of how to heal Sid, to the best of their ability.
"Sid, why would you try to steel something from the Aegis gang?" Arcee said.
Suddenly Sid grabbed Arcee's wrist and said, "Because, what they had could have made me and my gang rich and more powerful than any gang in all of Antiva. Maybe even something as powerful as the mighty Blood Pack."
"That's insane," Arcee said, "even if you did get it, they would have come after you and your gang and just taken it back."
"No," Sid said shaking his head, "I would have left evidence to point to the Ra gang, starting a gang war between Ra and Aegis. They would have destroyed themselves then my gang would have taken over and ruled Antiva."
"You're crazy." Arcee said, "Even if you did create a gang war between Aegis and Ra, the war would have destroyed your gang as well."
"Deunan," Sid said, "do what I set out to do, and return the red skull to power."
"I can't do that," Arcee said, "when you betrayed my trust long ago, I decided that I would never help the Red Skull gang become powerful. But tell me what did this device do?"
"It was a chip that held all the banking data of Antiva," Sid said, "if someone were to hack it they could access any and all bank accounts in Antiva. All one would need is a good hacker."
"Where would you have gotten a hacker?" Jack asked.
"The same place Aegis would have," Sid said, "but they don't know where she is, but I do."
"I refuse," Arcee said, "I wouldn't hack it for you or even for the Aegis gang."
"Hey, if the girl called Deunan Tenshi is listening," yelled a voice, "we have your gang's leader, the boy called Wyvern Shepard."
"Shepard," Arcee said aloud with a worried look on her face.
"Come alone to the Aegis gang's hideout by noon tomorrow or he will be in big trouble." The voice yelled again.
"I have to go," Arcee said.
"No you fool," Sid said, "it's a trap."
"Of course it is," Jack said, "but if she doesn't go Shepard will be killed."
"If Juggernaut gets access to the city's banking information," Sid said, "his gang will be unstoppable."
"I know, but we need Shepard to get us through this life that we have." Arcee said.
"Um, Arcee," Releena said, "With what we have at hand, I don't think we will be able to heal Sid properly. I think we should get him to a hospital."
"I'm not going to any fucking hospital!!" Sid yelled.
"I agree with Releena," Arcee said, "Everyone, take Sid to the hospital in the cover of night."
"What about you Arcee?" James asked.
"I'm going to get some early rest and then I'm going to go Aegis's hideout tomorrow and save Shepard." Arcee said, "However I want you all to remain at the hospital, while I go save Shepard."
"You can't save Shepard all by yourself." Jack protested.
"I can, and I will," Arcee said, "and if I can't at least you three will be safe."
"Who do you think you are?" Jack protested, "Shepard?"
"No, but, I'm the only one who can do this." Arcee said.
"Do you think this is what Shepard would do?" James asked, "Shepard would not try to do this all on his own."
"But," Arcee began.
"I agree that you are the only one who can save Shepard because of you're computer skills," James said, "but, don't you dare think that Shepard would just send us off to the hospital just to be safe."
"Then what do you suggest?" Arcee asked.
"I suggest this," James began as everyone gathered around James.

A pair of hands suddenly covered Tali's masks masking her vision, "Guess who?" a voice whispered into Tali's ear.
"Shepard, I know it's you," Tali said and turned around to see Shepard in his formal attire.
"So Tali were you up to," Shepard asked, "you were pretty distracted."
"I was just…" Tali began, but was interrupted.
"I was just telling Tali about our childhood days and what it was like to grow up on the streets of Earth." Arcee said.
"Oh, why didn't you just ask me about that Tali?" Shepard asked.
"I thought with the Reaper threat and all, plus being called in for that court-martial, you might just be a bit too busy to tell me about your childhood."
"Tali, even with everything going on," Shepard said, "I will always have time for you."
"Shepard," Tali said in a low voice then they embraced each other.
"That is so cute," Arcee said from the console.
"So where were you in the story of our childhood?" Shepard asked.
"I was just telling Tali about when James created for the plan to save you from the Aegis gang," Arcee said.
"I remember that time, we were nearly sixteen," Shepard said, "I'd hardly call that part of our childhood."
"Fine then, our teen days of our childhood era," Arcee said.
"Well don't let me stop you," Shepard said, "let's continue the story."
"Aren't you a bit busy with everything going on to take a break?" Arcee asked.
"I have time for this story," Shepard said.
"So James, Jack and I came up with a plan to rescue Shepard little did we know what was actually going on…."

A girl with long red hair, wearing tight dark blue jeans, and a light blue blouse, with navy blue high healed shoes and a single red boken entered a large warehouse, and went to the center between a large chair with boxes stacked up and a chair where a large muscular man sat in shadows, "Juggernaut," the girl yelled, "I'm here, so let Shepard go."
"I will let Shepard go after you've hacked the chip and gained access to the city's banking network." Juggernaut boomed out in a loud, low voice.
"Show me Shepard first and I will do what you ask of me," Arcee said, and drew her boken.
"So, you think you can fight me and my gang with that little stick?" Juggernaut said in a sarcastic tone.
"I will if I have too." Arcee shouted back.
There was a loud sharp sound, as if someone had just snapped their fingers. I doors behind Arcee slammed shut and the entire building was suddenly illuminated. Arcee looked around but all she could see was more than a hundred people of differing races, genders. The one thing Arcee couldn't see was Shepard.
"Where is Shepard?" Arcee demanded still holding her boken, hiding her fear behind a fierce face.
"Truth be told," Juggernaut said, "none of us have any idea where Shepard is." Juggernaut then stood up and jumped down to the ground with a resounding thud, and took a few steps toward Arcee, until he was only a few feet away.
Looking up toward the towering figure in front of her, he looked even bigger than he had when he was towering over Sid; he had torn, red dyed pants, a dark red muscle shirt, with a black sleeveless denim jacket, and a pair of boots with red steal on the toes, and red steal, brass knuckles that were jagged on the outside.
Still with her boken held in chudan position Arcee said, "Well, if you don't have Shepard, I guess the deal is off and I'll just be on my way."
But before she could back away Juggernaut grabbed, Arcee's wrists and held her up, high off the ground so that her face was level with his. He grabbed the boken with his other hand and yanked it away from her hands and threw it away high above his head.
Arcee noticed that there was no sound from her boken landing, no one else seemed to notice or care though.
"Now if we are done playing samurai," Juggernaut said, "you are going to hack into the city's banking information using that computer, and then you are going to remain with this gang and if you are lucky your mind will break before you go insane from the raping your body, your lovely young body is going to receive from all of us."
Arcee had a terrified look on her face, but then suddenly the windows that lined the building burst into shards, and then a light white gas started to fill the area and blue and red lights were flickering from outside and a voice shouted from outside.
"This is the Antivan royal police force," a male voice said, "we have the building and area surrounded, escape is impossible."
"Huh, that's what they think," Juggernaut said, "you, girl; hack the banking information right now, and download it to the mobile device."
"And if I don't," Arcee asked.
"If you don't I'll use your body as a shield and escape, even if I have to use your body as a fucking weapon." Juggernaut threatened.
Arcee suddenly saw something and said, "Fine I'll do it."
Arcee went over to the console and began hacking the data chip. The room was empty except for the two of them, everyone else had ran and escaped the choking smoke.
Suddenly, Juggernaut let out a loud moan of pain and knelt down onto the floor. Arcee looked behind her and saw, Shepard, holding her boken, it had broken into two pieces.
"Arcee, are you okay?" Shepard asked.
"Yes, just a little scared and my eyes are starting to water," Arcee replied, "Where did the police come from?"
"I called them here," Shepard said.
"Just like when we were little," Arcee said.
"So, you called the police here?" Juggernaut said as he stood up rubbing the top of his head. "You were the one who made my plans go to fucking shit. I'm going to tear you twine."
"I didn't think you would be able to stand up after I struck your head with this boken." Shepard said.
"Well, you were wrong." Juggernaut said and punched out toward Shepard. Shepard jumped away still holding the boken in his right hand. "You girl, finish the hacking of the chip, if you hack it before I kill Shepard, I'll let you both go free and safe."
"I don't trust you, but what else can I do?" Arcee said and turned back to the computer.
"Now where were we?" Juggernaut said, "Oh, yes, we were right here." Juggernaut suddenly charged Shepard his right shoulder held out in front. Shepard jumped to the side again and Juggernaut went slamming into the wooden crate that was behind Shepard breaking it into small pieces.
"Stop hopping around, and stay still already." Juggernaut shouted angrily.
"Fine I'll do just that." Shepard said and started to walk towards Juggernaut.
"That's a good boy," Juggernaut said, "come here to meet your maker."
Juggernaut crouched down and then jumped forwards, his arms high in the air, and brought them down on top of Shepard, with enough strength to crack the floor. But just before Juggernauts fists hit him, he jumped forward and rolled. Turned around and jumped on Juggernauts back. Shepard then brought the broken boken and stabbed it directly into Juggernauts back with enough force to penetrate the fabric and deep into the flesh. Juggernaut roared in pain and stood up, but before he could do anything more, a set of wires shot into the chest of Juggernaut and he fell to the ground.
"I cracked the banking information…" Arcee started to say, "…chip."
Police had surrounded Shepard, Juggernaut and Arcee and very carefully took Juggernaut, Shepard and Arcee away.

Shepard and Arcee were in a holding cell, in the police station, Juggernaut had been taken to a hospital to be treated for the Boken in his back. Shepard and Arcee were alone in a dimly lit room, with a large mirror in front of and behind them.
"Shepard what do you think is going to happen to us?" Arcee asked, "and the rest of the team?"
"I don't know," Shepard replied and put his arm around Arcee.
Three police officers walked into the room and sat down opposite Shepard and Arcee. Two of the officers wore red and black uniform, but the one in the center was chubby, bald and wearing a brown suit. "Alright," said the officer in the brown suit, "you missy are being charged with hacking confidential banking information, and you boy are charged with right now at least, attempted murder, if that guy that you jabbed the sword into survives you'll be lucky. What do you two have to say for yourselves?"
Shepard and Arcee looked at each other before answering the officer, "We both did what we had to do to survive, that encounter." Shepard said, "If I hadn't done what I did I probably would have died, and Arcee would definitely have been killed."
"So you decided that killing that guy was the better option?" the officer replied.
"I didn't want to, but at the time I figured it was me or him." Shepard said.
"I hacked the banking information to save Shepard," Arcee said, "I didn't want to but, at the time I figured I had to."
"Okay, why don't you two just tell me everything, so that we have a better picture as to what happened?" the officer asked. "Does that sound like a plan."
Shepard and Arcee looked at each other and then they explained everything that had transpired over the last couple of days.

A few days passed, Shepard and Arcee spent those days at the hospital, with Relena, James, and Jack, and they spent their time with Sid. Sid's injuries were quite extensive and the doctors said that he will survive but he will have to be moved to a colony, and receive biotic upgrades to survive. On the day that Sid was going to be moved to the colony. After Sid had been put into a transport ship and left the sight of Shepard and his friends. The Bald officer from before came by and said, "Since you five are all orphans and have survived on these streets for as long as you did, the judge has decided to go easy on you and let you join a military academy, or go to half way houses."
The five friends looked at each other and they all said at the same time. "Military Accademy," Shepard then continued on to say "the same military academy for all of us."
"That shouldn't be much of a problem," the officer said.

"So that's how, you joined the military academy." Tali said, "what ever happened to that Juggernaut guy?"
"He went to jail for life," Shepard said.
"But, he mysteriously vanished from his maximum security cell not long after," Arcee continued, "It's believed that he was freed by Cerberus."
"You just had to ruin the moment didn't you," Shepard said.
"Perhaps next time you can regale me with your time in the academy?" Tali said.
"I'd love to," Shepard said.
"If I remember correctly," Arcee said, "the five of us got into some massive trouble with the other students and the teachers, too."
"Hmm, I couldn't possible imagine Shepard getting into any trouble," Tali said jokingly.
